Revenge on 1" fish

Last year I had quite the blunder trying for my lifer rainbow darters. Lots of wind, freezing water, and a partner who outfished me... grrrr.

Today I had my revenge! Armed with some sampling information, I went out in search of a lifer Redside Dace... instead I found something just as colourful darting around! After a few tries, she had the tanago hook in her mouth!

New species #110, Rainbow darter!

A post-photoshoot release. Hmmm.... looking at the suspe

Hmmm.... looking at the suspected blacknose dace I don't see the stripe that is supposed to pass through its eye... could it be a pearl dace?

The two pics between the bott
The two pics between the bottom pic and the one with the ant are Creek Chub. Two reasons the dorsal ray count and the spot at the front bottom dorsal. Even though it's more of a red color it's the signature marking. I know it can be red cause that's how half the creek chubs I catch off the Cape Fear look. I thought I had a Sandhills chub but I didn't. The other two I couldn't say 100% because I've never caught either that dace or fathead. Nice catch

Life list total 235

Juvenile Creek Chubs and Pear

Juvenile Creek Chubs and Pearl Dace are confusing to me. One thing I do know for sure is that none of them are Fathead Minnows.
