Florida Gar, Lepisosteus platyrhincus Alex Moose

Found only in Florida, the aptly named Florida Gar is almost identical to the Spotted Gar. The only reliably identifier is the distance between the eye and the edge of the gill cover. For Florida gars, the distance is less than two-thirds the total length of the snout. In spotted gars, this measures more than two-thirds the entire length of the fish's snout.
