Where have all the creek chubs gone?
<p>I have a favorite place to observe creek chubs, and they have always faithfully been there to relieve my stress - but as of this week, they&#39;re all gone! (@-@) I assume it must be the colder temps and much lower water levels, but the creek they have - up till now - always called home is still at its same level. They were there last year at this time, and even through the winter! I&#39;m worried....and I miss them!!&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Is this normal, natural fish seasonal migration of some sort, or maybe something more malignant? :(</p>

same here

I caught a bunch of creek chubs a few days ago, pulling out one after the other, and we put them into an aquarium along with some common shiners. On Friday tried to catch some more for bait - nothing. It cooled down in the last few days, and I guess they stopped feeding.

We do catch them in winter though through the ice.

Nope - no deeper pools for them to hide in - I checked all the spots they've always been. They've simply vanished, and it's a bit concerning. No dead ones floating to indicate disease, no body parts scattered about to indicate predation - absolutely no trace of them! Kinda like the Anasazi in AZ... Very strange.....I'll look again this weekend. Also no greenies, minnows or bullheads. These other species vacated after the first freeze a couple weeks ago, but this didn't affect the chubs in the least last year. It's a real mystery, Scooby Doo!
