That's the spirit! You weren't hard to convince, so I'm guessing it was what you wanted all along, even if you didn't know it.

Just a quick question, Corey.

Just a quick question, Corey...  So if I remember correctly, it's freshwater only, species that reach at least 12 inches and/or one pound.  Is that it?

Yes, Freshwater Standard-Sized Fish Only

The full list of qualifying species is HERE, but if a new qualifying species is discovered during the contest, it can be added.  Somebody made the mistake several years ago of assuming that no new species can be added during the contest, which led to some confusion.  Just because a fish isn't on the list doesn't mean it won't count - HOWEVER if it's on the list as a micro then it won't (unless you can prove it reaches a pound in weight).  If you're unsure about a species, check both the ELIGIBLE SPECIES LIST and the FISH SPECIES LIST.  If it's on the fish species list and classified as a "Micro" or "Saltwater" then it won't count.  Orangespotted Sunfish are micros this year, so they won't count.

Thanks Corey!  I thought that's what we were dealing with, but wanted to get some clarification to be sure.  This is going to be a great contest, I predict!

Thanks, guys. You're embarrassing me.

I hope everyone can go out and use it in a LOT of photos of cool fish.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it on this site, so in case anyone doesn't know: this year there are contest t-shirts available in the roughfish.com cafepress store (same place as the button). Hopefully Corey priced them at a point that gets useful money into the pot for the contest and the site in general.

Potentially a dumb question here but I'll ask it anyway: if I don't have my button in the mail by next Saturday, is a printout of the button acceptable for contest submissions until the button arrives? Only reason I'm asking is that we're planning a small trip to Quebec that weekend and I'd like to enter any species I may come accross.
