<p>Caught at the Florida Keys</p>
<p>I present what I think are two littlehead porgies:</p>
<p><img alt="" src="http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr193/MichaelVerdirame/Fishing%202012/Florida%20December%202012/IMG_2904.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 375px;" /></p>
<p> </p>

<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p>And a jolthead porgy (orange in corner of mouth) or a grass porgy?</p>
<p><img alt="" src="http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr193/MichaelVerdirame/Fishing%202012/Florida%20December%202012/IMG_2930.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 375px;" /></p>
<p> </p>

<p>Thank-you in advance for the help!</p>
I agree that the top two are littlehead porgies. i would say the the bottom image is more likely to be a grass porgy or a maybe a sheepshead porgy (Calamus penna) just based on some pictures like this http://www.fishbase.org/images/species/Capen_u4.jpg
very interesting fish though - i am sure grass porgys have different color variations but the ones I have caught have not looked like that or had orange.

I think that the profile of the head may be too regular for it to be a sheepshead porgy. The sheepshead porgy head profile is similar to the jolthead... it slants sharply downwards. When I see illustrations of joltheads, they're all uniformly convex all the way to the mouth, no change in curvature.

Still stumped on this one though

yeah, you are right. the only porgies I see with this head shape are grass, jolthead and maybe pluma. If I had to make a decision I would say grass porgy based on this "five vertical rows of dark blotches" which it kind of looks like yours has. Good luck.

The first two are littleheads for sure, the last one is a grass porgy, the V-marking near the tail is another identifying feature.
