OT Darter Variants

I'm amazed at how different Orange Throat Darters can look and then, on the other hand, how difficult it is to decipher the differences between other Darters.

Here is one I caught last year near Little Rock, Arkansas.

Now here is one I caught last week near Branson, MO. Let me know if I have mis-IDed this one. I mean, the anal fin is a whole different color and it almost completely looks different except for the multiple saddle marks on their backs.

And then, not to mention the female variant.

Usually the Rainbows I'm fami

Usually the Rainbows I'm familiar with around here have 3 saddles on the dorsal region for both male and female. These have multiple saddles.

This is slightly confusing.

This is slightly confusing. Maybe I should have titled it "Rainbow Variants."
