MN state record Black Redhorse!

Just curious how many MN state record holders we have here. "I have caught a Black Redhorse in MN, I am a MN record holder." How many here have caught a MN Black Horse? I think Docs got the MN Eel record and CastnBlast the WI Eel record. Andy has the official Golden Red record. It would be cool to compile all the fish that people here have caught in those states that don't show a record or that its obvious we've beat it. I had a Rock Bass back in my Mille Lacs Walleye days that I gaurentee went over 2 pounds. Someone here has to have the Warmouth record! What about CastnBlast's WI Kokanee?

record fish...
I looked for record redhorse in WI, and IL found one for the silver in wi, but that's it! Was wondering what the different records are for the other redhorse.

When did they pull the badly ID'd redhorse? Is there anything written online about it? It would be nice if I could show that to the record-keeper in MN to buttress the argument that old, invalid records should be eliminated.

Man i dont know. They did it

Man i dont know. They did it about 4 years ago when they started adding records for creek chubs and common and golden shiners. I spoke to the biologist in our area and he told me they pulled all of the "red tailed" redhorse out and may start again. considering greaters and rivers are protected I am not sure what they will do. So that leaves Golden and Shothead up for grabs.

Illinois shorthead and silver redhorse records

As of December 2011, the only records for redhorse in Illinois (at least as published in the list that's in the regulations booklet) are for shorthead and silver.

SHORTHEAD 3 lb. 11.8 oz. 4/25/08 Fox River
SILVER 6 lb. 11.4 oz. 4/24/08 Fox River

Caught by brothers on consecutive days at a spot I fish occasionally. I plan to beat at least the shorthead record.

I have caught black redhorse.

I have caught black redhorse.

I have caught and landed hogsuckers to 18-inches likely over 2 pounds.

Last year my son caught a female golden redhorse nearing 4.5 pounds (on rapala scale of course.)

In 2005 I landed and released a flathead catfish that was a touch over 75-pounds in border waters.

They all still swimming in the water making babies and will remain good stories that I am proud of for many years I am sure.

E. Subvaria - care to share the story of the 75 lb flathead? I spend a lot of time chasing them down Lake Pepin way and always thought the 70 lb record unbeatable.
