Fishing DC area in March

My daughter has a youth leadership conference in Washington DC in March the 14-17. She's staying on site but since she is 12 and a T-1 diabetic I thought since I am off that week to go along with and stay nearby.

Soooo. Since my days are unencumbered with schedule I plan to go fishing some. We went to Smallwood State Park in search of snakeheads last summer. Any chance of catching them that early? Any other good bets for fishing in the DC Metro area? Anyway, all advice appreciated!

Dr.Phil

The Snakeheads should just be getting going around that time. Smallwood can be good but it does get hammered, especially by bowfisherman at night. If you can get somewhere that boats can't/don't go it'll increase your chances big time. Look for a soft bottom, preferably with leaves, and ideally with a little hard cover. Remember, no water is too shallow for snakeheads. Some good sunglasses and a soft step really help.

I usually fish closer to DC. Blue Cats should be going full steam, the first of the White Perch should be arriving, good crappie bite, tons of Bass, great time for carp too. I can't wait, only a few weeks away.

Let me know if you want to get together for some fishing.

I may give you a holler.

I may give you a holler. Staying at a campground closer to Chesapeake Beach. Im game for any fishing. My 9yo is coming with. We may have our Jon boat. Just can't wait to go fishing this year.

I'll probably be in the area

I'll probably be in the area around June or July, staying with my old amigo Fat Alex in Alexandria. I may have Normus with me, but with or without him I want to get into some snakeheads, and white perch if they're available. I'll need to head into the District a time or two to the Brasilian embassy to renew and pick up passports for my wife & kid. Other than that, my schedule will be made up on the fly. I don't get up there very often, so I really want to pick off some lifers. I'd be open to a NoVa mini-roundup if anybody else wants to get together.

Let there be fire!

Sitting here at work dreaming

Sitting here at work dreaming of getting at it this Thursday. Staying at Duncan's Family Campground next Thursday through Sunday whilst my daughter does some bit at the national 4H camp. This is about 20mi or so from Annapolis. Any help with the "where to fish" directions would be greatly appreciated. I guess it's a bit early for snakeheads but I'm game for anything! A big blue cat to deep fry with the kids would be good! I'm just looking forward to not being at work and spending some family time.
