congrats, I wish I could make it over there... Not going to happen right now.

You are in the territory of some blue-ribbion class Bigmouth fisheries.  While they may or may not be in the same spot and hitting the same baits I suspect you should be able to catch them buggers much of the year once you find and pattern them.

Nice!

What a beautiful catch

Just your run of the mill Orvis Boy.  Fly fishing elitist.  I cannot hear you over my false casting.  All guided trips every day.

Fishing for compliments since 88.

Was this by a warm water disc

Was this by a warm water discharge? Pretty wild seeing a buffalo with snow on the ground. Cool catch!

Chain Pickerel: All the bad assery of a Northern Pike wrapped up in a smaller, prettier package.

I can't speak for E.Sub but I

I can't speak for E.Sub but I'm in NW Wisconsin and several rivers almost never freeze.  After this last cold snap my local reservior has about 18" of ice but the river is still wide open, except a few slow holes.

Yes Tony - there is a river h

Yes Tony - there is a river here that does not freeze.  Fast water, a coal fire power plant, and seceral hydroelectric dams are contributors to this phenomenon.

This was the scene the day I caught these fish.

Lots of carp and buffalo stacked in an eddy.  Many were carrying Brook Lamprey along with them.
