I have been considering getting a fly rod, and after what I saw tonight while fishing in the extreme midwestern heat wave convinced me even more. I saw about 20 bigmouth buffalo at the surface of the water with their top lip out of the water, and they would just open and close their mouth. I'm assuming they're filter feeding right? Sometimes they will go by some cotton that falls from the cottonwood trees and they willl vaccuum it in as well. I've seen this before millions of times, but never really wanted to target them because I'm usually after gar and drum. Would a fly presentation work with what they're doing? And how would I go about presenting it (if it even were to work)? Note: I have no fly rodding experience, so be specific! Thanks! -Brad

JKnuth, among others, could certainly chime in here. However, I do know that flyfishing for Buffalo will work. I can say this, because I've witnessed it (haven't caught one myself yet). I'm sure someone will offer up a good description on the how
It doesn't matter what you're fishing for, just as long as you're out there doing it.
