Hi everyone,

I had a wonderful 5 hour charter this past Thursday in NH. I know some folks don't really like the concept of using charters to help them get species on the life list, but it truly was an amazing experience. I also will say all the charter captain did was set the boat up for the drift. I liked it that we all baited our own hooks, casted, held our rods, set the drag etc etc... captain handled the boat only - which did make me feel like I made the catch. Worked my butt off, but my single fished made the effort all worthwhile! I know the species can get far larger but I was pretty thrilled with it.

The entire trip write up is on my blog (www.coolwaterfish.com), but if you just want to see it... here it is;

Now that is one badass fish, my friend. Congrats! I loved the story you posted over on your blog too - great photos. That kayaker who tied into a big striper must have had a hell of a ride!
Thanks Andy,
The captain was pretty cool in that he let us just circle around near the yaker (without jeopardizing the catch) so we could talk to him and offer the net etc etc... It was awesome to watch. I took a mess of photos of him and yelled my website name, he left a comment with his email on the "About" page. He is going to be thrilled with the shots I got. I was happy to do something nice for a fellow angler and can you imagine how neat it is for him to have this incredible fishing moment - and someone capturing it for him.
He did get the fish landed, 28" is a keeper and I'm pretty sure it was at that mark or a bit past. He said he was going to revive it and let it go. He also was talking to us while fighting the fish about everything leading up to that point... apparently he was outside of the mouth of the river a good distance when he hooked up and the fish dragged him to the place where we found him... probably between 1/4 to 1/2 a mile into the channel.
Here's a few exclusive pics I'll just post here at RF;
