what kind of Micro fish is this?

I found it up in the interior of Alaska about 30 miles north of the Arctic Circle july 2012. it was in a flooded canoe that was left on a lake shoreline over the winter. it was around 3 inches in length.

That's an Alaska Blackfish, one of the coolest of all the arctic fishes.

thanks for the help in identifying this.
I wasnt sure at the time.
I guess I'll add it to my life list as a micro now.
unless it's not in the list options.
Did not know these even existed. Very Cool!
You used hook and line to catch a 3 inch fish out of a flooded canoe? That's rough as hell, man.
If you didn't use hook and line, though, the species wouldn't count for lifelist per the website's definition.
Weird website error. Wouldn’t let me post
Thanks for letting me know about the hook and line rules. I have removed it from my life list.
Just for clarification, something being “rough as hell” on here is a good thing!
no problem. I took it as so. I wish I had caught it hook and line at the time but it never even crossed my mind. the little guy was swimming end to end in the partially drained canoe and I was able to corner him and pluck him out of the water. then I took the photo because I thought it looked like a cool fish before I released him back in the lake.
I think we all take the opportunity to grab and admire fish when opportunities like this present themselves. Creates good stories and pictures!
