Kayak Rough Fishing

Good Day fellow Rough Fishermen! I thought some of you might be interested in my brand new book, "The Ultimate Guide to Kayak Fishing" (Joel Spring, Skyhorse Press, June 2017). In addition to being an introduction to the sport, the book is heavily loaded with many of my kayak/rough fish catch photos, such as carp, longnose gar and bowfin. I've always been a rough-fisher, and think that the kayak lends another interesting dimension to chasing those critters that are not always high on the game fish lists, if they're there at all .

The book is a thorough introduction to kayak angling so, if you've ever thought "hey that looks like fun", I hope you'll give it a look. The link below is to the Amazon paperback version, but there's also an e-reader/Kindle version available as well.

https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Guide-Kayak-Fishing-Practical/dp/1510711120/ref=pd_sim_14_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=1510711120&pd_rd_r=0J8FZAJN7NYXBWK5SQV0&pd_rd_w=qEGJM&pd_rd_wg=8JWEm&psc=1&refRID=0J8FZAJN7NYXBWK5SQV0

Thanks!

Joel

Cool! I'm not big on how-tos, but I'll have to check it out.

This is Awesome!

Birddog, I also do quite a bit of kayak fishing for our beloved Roughfish. Just ordered your book from Amazon, and can't wait to read it! Ghosts of Autumn was a fantastic read. Keep on writing, I like your style.

Thanks Sus, I appreciate it.

Thanks Sus, I appreciate it. Not normally being a "how-to" writer, I tried to keep it entertaining. Hope you enjoy it.

A few kayak rough fish this morning.

A few rough fish from the deck of the kayak this morning. Brown bullhead, Eurasian rudd and big spawning bluegill. I was after bowfin, but lost the only (BIG!) one I hooked on a spinnerbait.

Nice Rudd

That Rudd is very pretty! I really enjoy catching them even if they are invaive.

I'm hoping to try out the kayak angling once I get into a better financial situation. Seems like a lot of fun, especially where I am living right now because there are tons of tiny little lakes. Picked up a copy, good luck!

2023 Goals: White Bass (X), Any Buffalo (X), Arctic Grayling (X) , Tree River Char (X), Northern Hogsucker

Thanks Mr Bowfin (Amia).

Thanks Mr Bowfin (Amia). You can get into a pretty good kayak these days for a little over 500 bucks. I hope you enjoy the book!

Here's a fly-fishing website

Here's a fly-fishing website giving away a copy of the new book, as well as giving it a pretty in-depth review. Enjoy!

Kayak Rough Fishing Goes Primetime!

Thought you guys might like to see this: A local TV interview I did on June 21st. Not only did we cover the book, but also got into some pretty good discussions about bowfin, gar, redhorse and carp and how they don't get the credit they deserve in angling circles. Bill (the host) knew that I liked to chase the less traditional species, and opened up the conversation to talk about one of my favorite topics: Rough fishing! Enjoy -- it's about 25 minutes if you skip through the commercial break in the middle.
