Howdy all

New guy here......just thought I'd introduce myself. I live and go to college in northeast Ohio, but spend the majority of my time on the water in NW PA with the oddball trip elsewhere. I'm a multispecies fish bum at heart, with a complicated love affair for trout. Blessed to have so many great fishing opportunities in the region for so many fun species to pursue and catch.

I've stumbled upon this site years back but haven't really visisted it much since, and I really regret it. Should've joined a LONG time ago. Was browsing through the forums recently and there's priceless info and stories.......I feel like I've been missing out. Look forward to sharing photos, adventures, and helping out when I can. Seems like a fine group of folks that all have the same interest

Anyways, just thought I'd say hi. Time to start digging through old photos for the lifelist and I'm sure I'll be asking about a couple redhorse IDs haha. Tight lines fellas....

Welcome!

Great to have you here, fishinnick. I too have a complicated love affair with salmonids, but the guys here tolerate it...

Hengelaar, yeah that's a finny area for sure. Fortunate to have some fine bowfin fisheries in the region. One of my favorite species!!

I gotta go to jersey for a good shot at Bowfn, thats a stud man !! ever had one on a fly rod ? love me some salmoniods, but hate the "trash fish" guys the the beautiful fish seem to bring out in angling community!! its a shame people cant just apperciate all fish like we do here on RF.

Right on man. Small stream

Right on man. Small stream wild trout is my favorite type of fishing. Just the whole experience........pretty fish, fun to hunt down and catch, and beautiful streams. And I steelhead fish a lot. But yeah there's so many snobs out there. To a lot of people it's a let down when they find out their trout of a lifetime is a giant sucker. I like big trout as much as the next guy, but I love catching all fish. Love variety

And thanks. Yup I've gotten plenty on the fly rod! Not super reliable from my experiences.......mostly a bait game, but when they're active they are an absolute blast on fly gear.

Howdy

That tidbit about fly fishing for bowfin sounds like something most people on this site would really appreciate! Most of us are lame and catch them using cutbait.

Welcome to the site!

Thanks again for the welcome

My go-to bowfin method is definitely cut bait as well haha. But when they're in the mood getting them on the fly is super fun. I'll have to toss up a few pics and stuff sometime. Man now I'm dreaming of summer haha

Can get some good eyes out of

Can get some good eyes out of the mystery marsh, too. I don't know if you've tried, but it's a bit surprising how many decent eyes are under the spillway. Then again, look what's right downstream..
