May i suggest earlier for more fish rather than later for better weather.

Late april?

Recently found out that Corey and I will be turkey hunting the weekend of the 11th-12th of May. So, I would suggest that we hold Roundup this year either the last weekend in April or first weekend in May. I know that Captain Rainbow has said he wouldn't be able to make it in May, but let's get some chatter going about who has conflicts or opinions about the best weekend to host Roundup 2013...
I think I agree with ESub, the last weekend in April would probably be better for fishing so that gets my vote.
I vote first weekend in May. My Dad works the last weekend in April, and I might be trying for Longnose suckers that weekend too. But, I could make either work.
Doesn't matter for me. Waking up to snowfall and frost is kind of fun. Warmer water seemed to produce fewer total fish but greater variety last year (a few walleye, catfish, bass, and other species were caught but the sucker fishing was quite a bit slower).
Going to try to shoot for thrsday as well. Depending if We can get the kids to gramps on thursday or not. Ill be in touch Ben... Need to check out the regulations. Looking forward to meeting fellow roughfishers!

Ugh so I hate to say it, but its not looking likely we will be at the roundup this year.
I have a large project due the week after and due to all kinds of issues on the homefront It is looking like it will be a tight fit to make that deadline. No real way to move the deadline so Ill need that weekend to work.
Our turkey plans changed. We will be hunting the first weekend in may now. So....
Do we want to have the roundup last weekend in April as planned our should we change or to the second weekend in may? Considering r the late spring, Corey and I are up for suggestions and input. I know many of us need to plan ahead, but just throwing it out there for debate. Also, we want the knuths there If at all possible! Let's hear your guys honest opinions please!!!
I would come either way. It would be cool if we could find a date when more people could come. I know that Eric has a run or some other reason (lame excuse?) for missing the last weekend in April too. Knowing us and our attempts to predict weather, it will be 80 degrees in May or something but oh well.
Dt just quit your job! I find whenever jobless you get to fish lots more! Every weekend works for me and avery. Well just make it. Who wants to fish those stinkin walleye anyway.

We will call the date today, but I just wanted to ask for Any more input...do people still think fishing will be that much better earlier? Is the risk of bad weather and river conditions worth it? its hard because some folks can make it one date and some can't. Personally i'm leaning towards changing it to second weekend in may, but want to do what's best for the group.

I should be good to go either date - forced to pick I'd favor last weekend in April
April
Id say the last weekend in April
I have a better chance end of April than May.
It is all perspective!

I'll be in Arkansas. Maybe next year for me.
I'll be there, and likely on thursday with the Knuths. I have an extra kayak if someone wants to use it.

The earlier date is better for me but I should be able to make the later date work too...
I might be in Northern Wisconsin on a seperate adventure that weekend. But i'll see if I can warp my plans. I'd hate to miss the roundup.
It looks like we would be able to make that later weekend.
Let us all know as soon as a decision is made so people can adjust requested days off.
I think the weather will be better then this year too.
We still have almost 10" of snow and 20+" of Ice on most lakes.
Talked to the parentals. If it's on the 11th I won't be able to make it.

I'm game for either. If you call it sooner I (we) will have time to come up with excuses for leaving work the wednesday before.
Carpy Diem!
