Some ID help
<p>I caught these in Algonquin, and just wanted to confirm their identification... I believe these two here to be blacknose shiner, but I am still unsure: <img src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/581947_3247878969712_2042262393_n.jpg" width="500" /> <img src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/406298_3247879849734_202711009_n.jpg" width="500" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Unsure on this one: <img src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/480709_3247878609703_604243322_n.jpg" width="500" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Yellow perch? The last two are definitely a

The last two are definitely a yellow perch and a smallmouth bass.  The one before is some kind of sunfish, though I hesitate to guess since I'm no expert in juvenile sunnies and I'm sleep-deprived.

Let there be fire!

The top 2 are Northern Redbelly Dace, then juvenile sunfish, juvenile perch, and juvenile SM Bass.

wow thanks!  I had totally

wow thanks!  I had totally overlooked the Northern Redbelly Dace.  Now what token features make them Northern Redbellies  as opposed to Finescales or Pearl Dace?

Any clue which species of sunfish?

The sunfish looks liek a

The sunfish looks liek a young bluegill to me.
Based on the pectoral fin shape and the long caudal peduncle and tail.

The 2 black bands tell you it

The 2 black bands tell you it's a Redbelly Dace.  Finscales are way different and Pearl Dace look kinda like Creek Chubs but usually have some color to them.

They just look like the Northern variety.  I have caught NRD that actually have a yellow belly (not orange) and yours looks like it has a yellow hue to it.

I think my Southerns look different with a more broken line towards the tail and lighter coloring pattern.  Check out the ones on my lifelist.  I feel comfortable with this ID.

Sounds great!  Cast and Blast

Sounds great!  Cast and Blast, I did checkout your lifelist NRD and it looks just like the fish here.  =)

For future ID's can you guys suggest some resources?  Right now I've been using Ontario's Baitfish Primer http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/regions/central/pub/baitfish-appat-on/page16-26-eng.htm

edit: if you checkout the NRD and the finescale and pearl dace illustrations in the link above, they'll look very similar =S... at least they do to me

You can download the

You can download the following fish database or order the CD.  I think its only like $5.

This is a helpful tool but I also use several state specific "Fishes of ..." books.  I also confirm many of my tough catches with some good icthyologists.  Making friends with some key people in the field can be helpful too.
