Not sure if "snagged" is the best word choice to describe how it was caught...unless it actually was snagged, in which case it should not be a record.

it seems like reporters love using the word "snagged" for catchin a fish. Often the fish is not snagged but the reporter thinks it is a valid and more colorful way to describe it. Apparently most reporters do not know much about fishing
Goldeye and mooneye are a couple of those fish species that even us biologists reach for William Pfliegers’ Fish of Missouri just to make sure what it is because we're clearly not qualified for this job.She was interested enough in a “non-game trash fish” to put forth the effort.
