Sacramento Splittail Closeup

The Sacramento Splittail is a large species of minnow endemic to California's great central valley. It is found in the Sacramento and San Joachim Rivers, the San Francisco Estuary, and major tributaries of these. These fish are easily distinguished from similar central valley species by noting the longer upper lobe of the caudal fin. Another species of splittail, the Clear Lake Splittail, is endemic to Clear Lake.

Other Names: Splittail, Common Splittail
