Esox americanus (Grass Pickerel)

 

The grass pickerel is the smallest American Pike, rarely getting to be a foot long. The world record is a pound and a half. Also called little pickerel, mud pickerel, grass pickerel, banded pickerel, redfinned pike, and redfin pickerel. Grass Pickerel are fun little scrappers on ultralight tackle.
