Caught at the mouth of Kashwitna River where it dumps into the Big Susitna River. Was fishing for rainbows using a 4" mossy sculpin fly on 5 wt flyrod with 12 lbs leader. My best flyrod catch....thought I had a great rainbow.....halfway through my backing I realized it had to be an early king. No one else around, fishing from shore.....took an hour and 15 min to land this puppy. 43" and 40 lbs.....

It was.....
You got that right.....was afraid it was going to break the whole time. Amusing part of this story is that over the next two weeks I fished this same area with my 10 wt.....looking for the kings......I hooked several and lost every one of them....go figure.
