Hey guys, been a while since I've made a post. I was in school and something came up that I just had to share. So it's my last year in high school and I took an environmental class and man do I regret it. We were going over underwater ecosystems yesterday and the teacher displays a diagram of the different kind of fish that live in North American waters and what kind of water they need. It had a section dedicated to gar and carp and other roughfish that was explicitly titled "Trash Fish". THEN the teacher begins to go on to say that as water becomes muddy and fills with pollution and trash, you begin to accumulate trash fish like gar and carp. "Man, gar are just really gross and nasty." So yeah, I do not care for the teacher I will say, but it's a perfect example of why nobody cares for these fish. Anyways, hope everybody is catching fish lately. It's been pretty slow here. Was curious by the way, (I caught this about two weeks ago on the MO river) is this a striped bass? I have caught so many hybrids before that I know what they look like but this one just seemed like it had to be a striper. It'd probably be too good to be true but let me know if you guys think so. Thanks guys. - Brad

Striper. And I hoped you educated that "teacher."
My immediate response to the teacher: "Man, you are just really gross and nasty!"
I hope you took a shower or something immediately after class/school to cleanse yourself of that toxic snobbishness.
Tell your Principal that the teacher made a grab for your crotch. That should be the last you ever see of him/her.

That is unfortunate but as I am discovering a very common attitude. I was fishing in the Midwest this summer with relatives, and my brother-in-law told me I broke the law when I released some golden redhorse I caught, because it was an "invasive species." He acted like I was doing something on the order of poaching a rhino by releasing those fish...
I told him that redhorse were native but I could tell he didn't believe me. And I guess ven my own relatives don't read what I write!
