Once you get the pop-up after clicking the pic icon, paste the link in the box as seen below...
Here's what you're looking for in Photobucket. (NOT the 'img" link we used to use). This process is simply repeated everytime you want to add another pic in your post. They will show immediately if you did it correctly and you compose your post around real pics.
once you have put the direct link in the url box you can change the size of the picture in the 'width' and 'height' boxes next to the picture. (this is useful as sometimes the pitures are huge when you post them.)
This tutorial should be put somewhere on the site as an article that people can refer to without having to search the forums, or it could be pinned to the top of the tech support forum.

Thanks Gunnar, folks helped me so I help others in return. That said, the ball has been passed and it's now all Roughfish29's responsibilty to explain when others ask. Tag...you're it RF29!

But seriously, those little boxes can come in handy for tailoring a post. Have to try them sometime. Any ideas on what border, HSpace, and VSpace do? There's also the option of "Link" and "Advanced" under the words Image Properties on the pop-up. Might give some other options for posting pics, we'll have to experiment I guess.
Didn't forums used to come with instructions and FAQs? This one seems like a f'd up puzzle on occasion, but it does have some nice features once figured out. Good thing we're all patient anglers, this software would be a bad product for something like a suicide help board. (not that I'd really want to see their pictures anyway)
I made Kernel's instructions into a FAQ. It's in articles.
The problem is that we programmers can't write instructions. I can't anyway. I'm useless at it. I've tried, and it just doesn't help people or make any sense. I need help with that. Otherwise, it just sounds like "click on the doodad, select the thingie, upload your XRL, then use the widgetifiyer to confabulate the data content".
The CKEditor is very powerful and allows to to make your post into a full html document. There's a user guide in the LINKS section that might help a bit: http://docs.cksource.com/CKEditor_3.x/Users_Guide
Thank you, Corey, for putting so much time and effort into this great website that so many people can share! I know it takes a lot of very hard work and time to create such a site, so I just want to post a formal "thank you!" I hope you were able to relax and enjoy your vacation, and it looks like you guys had a great time! I hope you didn't have to come home and hit the ground running...welcome back to roughfish.com! :)
I come from the opposite end of the spectrum - I can't program, or understand how to program, even a VCR, let alone anything else remotely computer related, to save my life; so it's wonderful that everyone here is so helpful and willing to share their time and diverse talents - for free - to work together to maintain this wonderful online community!
You don't have to do all this work to host this website - without any financial compensation - Corey, so again, I think we all really appreciate your willingness to host this crazy online party, and the equally crazy - in a good way - folks who hang out here! :)
