Pool 9 Micro Trip
<p>I made a trip to Pool 9 last weekend for a Micro/Standard fishing trip.&nbsp; The reason for Pool 9 was because of its richness in&nbsp;species.&nbsp; I caught numerous Micros 3 of which would become new lifers for me.&nbsp; All are confirmed ID&#39;s by Fiddlefish and John Lyons.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>#1&nbsp; Tadpole Madtom</strong></p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000885.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000890.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>#2&nbsp; Weed Shiner</strong></p> <p>This is a species of &quot;Special Concern&quot; in WI.&nbsp; The 7 anal rays sealed the ID&nbsp;confirmation deal.</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000944.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000948.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000950.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1010035-1.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>#3&nbsp; Bullhead Minnow</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000927.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><img alt="" src="http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc281/mjchanning/P1000986.jpg" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Juvenile Redhorse

I almost forgot another interesting catch while fishing Micros.  Lyons claimed this one was a juvenile Shorthead Redhorse spawned this year.  There were several of them near shore.   This could be perhaps the smallest Redhorse caught so far.  The saddles on their back are unmistakable.

Congrats on the new species Mike.  Bet you were hoping the juvenile redhorse was gonna be your silver chub eh?

Madtom

3 more species for you! Congrats!

Now, I ain't no micro guy, but Madtoms look so cool. Plus their name is so cool.

I would gladly trade one of the Silver Chub I caught for a Madtom.

Because I've caught several Silver Chub.

Fishn sure is neat

Hengelaar,

Hengelaar,

How about I trade one of my Muskies for a Silver Chub.  I've caught way too damn many muskies.  They are actually getting sickening to catch every fall.  Hahaha.

Kind Regards,

Cast

Nice photos. Madtom is a badass looking fish for sure.

Can I use those shorthead photos on moxostoma.com? I've never found any (as far as I can remember, anyway) clear photos of redhorse that young.

Mike, you are going to have

Mike, you are going to have to submerse yourself in a diving bell and fish the bottom of lake Superior pretty soon since you are running out of targetable species.

That Madtom is super cool.

Carpy Diem!
