Missouri Late Fall Species Trip

I’m heading to Joplin Missouri for this Thanksgiving break, mostly to enjoy some time with family but also to do a little deer hunting and if possible, do some multi species fishing. Missouri is a lot different fish wise than my native Colorado, and I was wondering if anyone had any general species hunting tips for this year. Or even any tips for Missouri itself. Thanks!

I've never been to that part of Missouri, but I researched the James River 60 miles to the east of there a little bit. There are some cool species there. There's a park and canoe rental right in Hootentown, looks pretty sweet. Of course, you've got streams right in and around Joplin that might be just as good.

Thanks! I appreciate the answer. I’ll see about a report if it goes well.

Little streams in the area

Little streams in the area might give up some longear sunfish and spotted bass. Maybe do some bottom fishing on just about any stream or river. Who knows what you might catch.

I have been there a few times. I had some luck this year at Wildcat Glaze access on Shoal creek. That would be Northern Rock Bass. A few years back I caught a lot of nice Ozark bass at Stubblefield access on Flat creek. That was right at Dusk, but this year I didn't have much luck, but we caught some.

Quick update

Just thought I’d let everyone know how things were going. Standard species are being difficult to find, but the micro fishing is going well. I’ve added two species so far, the least darter and bigeye shiner. I really appreciate all the help!
