I caught these fish both in the Ocanaluftee river in Great smoky mountains national park. I was wondering what they were.
If anybody has any suggestions, thanks!
Micros are impossible (which is why I don't track them myself) but if you want my best guess I'll say the first is a River Chub, Nocomis micropogon, and the second is a Mirror Shiner, Notropis spectrunculus. They are both common in the Ocanaluftee. I am moving this post to the Micro forum.
I'll back you up on the river chub. I'm in the Tennessee drainage too, and I catch a ton of river chubs. This is a juvenile specimen. The adults, especially females, lose that stripe as they get a little bigger. Cool little fish...
Let there be fire!
