First ice trip ever!

Crappie, Black
Small lol

My wife and I went ice fishing for the first time today and we did have success! We caught some black crappies using a lindy ice worm jig (green) tipped with waxworms. It was a lot of fun to get out on the ice and thrilling to catch my first fish in a couple months and my very first fish through the ice!

Crappies through the ice, that's a classic ice-fishing experience. I see you were roped up and wearing a PFD, how thick was the ice?

Thanks man. :) I'm really trying to evolve as an angler! The ice was 4" in some spots, 5" in others, and 6" in some - all clear black ice. My wife and I were just trying to be real cautious as I'm still learning what signs to look for while on the ice. It certainly felt real strong but better safe than sorry! :)

Chain Pickerel: All the bad assery of a Northern Pike wrapped up in a smaller, prettier package.

Congrats on a successful first ice outing.

It's all a downward spiral of lunacy from here on.
