That is a nice Artic Grayling!
It took me many years to get my dream sheet assignment of Alaska when I was serving in the U.S. Army (now retired). When you join the Army they let you write down 3 places stateside and 3 overseas duty stations that you think you want to be stationed at if possible but most never get the places they pick but amazingly it all came together and I was assigned to Fort Wainwright, Alaska on my very last duty station. Being a Florida Boy (at least 7th generation Floridian) I really was enamored by Alaska and being a sportsman I knew it could be a paradise for hunting and fishing. I didn’t get to hunt there unfortunately but fish I did every chance I got especially on the little Chena River that ran right through the post. I bought some little Mepps spinners and through trial and error found that the simple silver one performed the best and I caught 100s of Artic Grayling from the very small 4 inch babies to a few whoppers, I also caught some stocked Rainbow Trout, Whitefish, Northern Pike (on a fly rod) and so many Pink and Coho Salmon during the spawn it got almost boring-almost I said-lol I now live back in North Florida but long to get to Alaska once more!
