I went out today and caught my personal best Sonora Sucker (20 inch, 3.5 pounds). I also landed a 13 pound 30 inch carp and a 4 pound channel cat. It's one of my last chances to get on the Salt River before its crowded with tubers so I was especially pleased with the results.

Nice Sonora! I love the desert. Please keep them pics coming. Where is the Desert Sucker?
Actually, that was my main target today but such is fishing.
Wonderful Catostomus there.
Good to know the Salt River still exists. And that it still has some natives in it~!
Fishn sure is neat
Cool sucker. I am always pleased to see suckers from "far off" places. Any special tricks to targeting the Sonora and Desert suckers?
sweet sucker! Were these fly caught?
Carpy Diem!
Awesome! More photos of the fish? Close-ups? Mouth shots? If not, then please make sure to get a bunch the next time. So many crappy photos of the less common suckers out there on the web, so new good ones are always needed.
I'm very jealous. Nice work.

Hengelaar: I still haven't been able to match your successes on the Salt with the roundtail chub.
Eric Kol: I caught off a small crappie jig with small piece of shrimp under a float.
So far the best bait for them has been diced shrimp fished off the bottom.
Gunnar: Here is a different view of a Sonora Sucker. This isn't the same fish but does give better view of the mouth.
Those are some serious lips! Dang.

That is so true Gunnar. There are very few pics out there of them cool Western suckers. And many times they are mis-IDed.
cool lookin' fish! I'd love to get back to the desert one of these days
Do you see those Roundtails out there though, Mr. Surfraider..?
That would be encouraging...
