Went to my local boat launch A Coupul days ago. Thinking I was going to score a small bass or some shiners. So I packed up my ultralight rod with 4 LB line and some jigs. After a Coupul of minutes I seen this monster drum swimming arouned on the bottom feeding I casted in front of him. And he bit it instantly. It took me about 15 minutes of hard fighting he finally gave. I landed my second drum ever. Ohh and my ultralight broke today with this drum being the only big fish caught on that rod

nice big drum!
Too bad about breaking the rod though...
Ultralight
When I was in Alaska I hooked a 35 inchish king salmon on my ultralight, but it didn’t end the same way as yours... wish I caught it and broke my rod ha. Sorry to hear about your rod but nice fish!
Still that is super rad!
Those big sheap sure are fun to tustle with. I caught a big one on a cane pole as a kid and the pole snapped 3 different times and by the time I landed the fish it looked like I was holding a wooden spoon handle with a line attached to it! RIP your ultralight (hey it's a good excuse to get a new rod tho!)
Ya just Can't catch um from the couch.
Great fish!
Everything fights better on an ultralight! For Drum that size I usually go for a medium or medium-heavy rod, so I'm impressed you managed to land it.
