Carps

This group includes a variety of exotic fishes, introduced into North American waters from Europe or Asia. Part of the gigantic Cyprinid or minnow family, the carps are large, burly, and extremely smart. Esteemed game fishes in their home waters, they are often considered a nuisance in North America.  Carp are big, canny, hard-fighting fish. The mainstream angling community scorns these hard-fighting invaders, but that doesn't prevent smart and resourceful fishermen from enjoying this largely untapped resource.

Common Carp/Koi, Grass Carp, Bighead Carp, etc.
